As part of her presidential agenda for 2025, Helen Fadipe MBE, President of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI), will announce an ambitious public awareness campaign during her Presidential inauguration.
The campaign, set to launch on World Town Planning Day 2025, aims to shift the narrative surrounding the planning profession, and will build on the success of the RTPI’s previous “It Takes Planners &” campaign.
Fadipe’s campaign will focus on clearly demonstrating the public benefits of proper planning, including its positive impact on the environment, climate, and overall quality of life. It will aim to reshape public perceptions, showing planning not as an obstacle, but as a proactive force for good.
The initiative comes at a crucial moment, as ongoing government reforms are being implemented to transform the planning system into a key driver of economic growth. The success of these reforms will require widespread public support, which can only be achieved through greater understanding and appreciation of the planning profession.
Helen Fadipe, RTPI President in 2025, said: “Collaboration has always been at the heart of effective planning. As planners, we work within a complex web of relationships involving architects, developers, engineers, policymakers, and, most importantly, the people whose lives are touched by our work.
“I am committed to using my time as President to change the narrative around planning. This campaign will be a crucial step toward inspiring the next generation of planners and ensuring our profession is seen for the positive impact it has on society.”
