Helen Fadipe elected RTPI Fellow for increasing representation in planning

The Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) would like to congratulate Helen Fadipe MBE on being elected Fellow of the Institute.

Chartered Fellow is the highest professional membership grade offered by the RTPI and is only awarded to chartered members who have made a major personal contribution to the planning profession for the benefit of the public. Under the provisions of the Royal Charter, they are now entitled to use the designatory letters FRTPI.

Helen is the current RTPI Vice President and Director of FPP Associates (UK) and Firstplus Planning Consultants (Nigeria). She is a distinguished strategic planner with over 34 years of experience in the UK and internationally, spanning both public and private sectors.

The Nominations Sub Committee acknowledged Helen’s strong commitment to the RTPI and her commitment to increasing diversity, inclusivity and representation in planning by founding the BAME Planners Network.

Helen said: “Being elected a Fellow is both a personal and professional milestone that I deeply cherish. It represents not only a recognition of my years of dedication, commitment, and passion for shaping the places where people live, work, and thrive, it also reaffirms my belief in the value of planning as a force for positive change, sustainability and community well-being.

“Professionally, it is an honour that brings a deeper responsibility to lead, mentor, and share knowledge within the planning community.

This Fellowship is a reminder of the significant role planners play in addressing complex challenges, from environmental sustainability to social equity, and reinforces my belief in the power of planning to create positive, lasting impacts on society.

“Being part of this distinguished community of professionals strengthens my ability to effect meaningful change and highlights the importance of collaboration in delivering thoughtful, impactful planning solutions.

“It also provides a platform to advocate for the planning profession, mentor and support the next generation of planners and ensure that we continue to build communities that are resilient, inclusive, and future-focused.”

Applications for Fellowship are considered by the RTPI Nominations Sub Committee.
