Fees and payment
The RTPI is the largest membership institute for professional planners in Europe. Being a member shows your commitment to the highest professional and ethical standards. Outlined below is an overview of the fees involved, including subscription fees for ongoing membership and access to member services and administration fees for setup and processing.
There are two fees relating to membership:
The administration fee is a one-off payment when applying to join, rejoin or transfer your membership and is payable at the point of submitting your application.
The membership subscription fees are payable to maintain and renew your membership. These will be payable at the time of submitting your application for the current year or shortly after being elected, and subsequently on the first of January each year.
1. Administration fees
In accordance with the Membership terms and conditions the administration fee covers the processing of your application and is therefore non-refundable. Full details of the current administration fees can be found here.
There are some exceptions where an administration fee is not charged:
- If you are studying an RTPI accredited course and applying for student membership.
- If you are a town planner degree apprentice and applying for licentiate membership.
- If you are a current member applying for retired membership
- If you are rejoining your previous licentiate membership class
2. Membership subscription fees
You will be charged a pro-rata of the membership subscription fee based on the month elected to 31 December of that year. Full details of the current membership subscription fees can be found here.
There are some exceptions where a membership subscription fee is not charged:
- If you are studying on an RTPI accredited course and applying for student membership.
- If you are a student member your membership is free until the end of the year you graduate.
- If you are a town planner degree apprentice and applying for licentiate membership.
Membership subscription fees are payable as follows:
- For the current year at the time of submitting your application or
- Within 30 days of your election, if you are joining an associate, legal associate, chartered or fellow membership class plus
- Annually on first of January each year.
