A range of innovative ways to tackle the UK’s housing crisis will feature at the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) Awards for Planning Excellence 2020.
Finalists include a self-build scheme in Glasgow, a modular ‘innovation village’ in Gateshead and a Cambridgeshire cohousing development planned collaboratively by residents, architects, developers and public authorities.
The RTPI’s annual Awards for Planning Excellence, now in their 45th year, are the most respected in the UK planning industry. The awards celebrate exceptional examples of planning and the contribution planners make to society not just throughout the UK but internationally.
In total, 116 projects, teams and individuals across 14 categories have been selected by the independent judges this year from a record number of entries.
The climax of the ceremony, which takes place in London on 30 April, will be the presentation of the Silver Jubilee Cup, awarded to the project adjudged best overall.
The judging panel in 2020 will once again be chaired by Prof Sadie Morgan, founding director of Stirling Prize-winning architecture practice dRMM.
