The RTPI’s International Strategy Working Group (ISWG), a key part of the Institute’s vision to be the world’s leading professional planning body, has met for the first time.
The group will write the RTPI’s new International Strategy, which will run until 2030 in parallel to the RTPI’s Corporate Strategy, launched earlier this year, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The ISWG is chaired by International Committee Chair Janet Askew. As well as members of the International Committee, it includes representatives from the Membership and Ethics Committee, Education and Lifelong Learning Committee, Policy, Practice and Research Committee and Nations and Regions Panel.
Also part of the group is RTPI Vice President Wei Yang. She said: “I was delighted to help kick off the work of the ISWG last week with an excellent discussion paper prepared by International Officer Michele Vianello.
“With a growing number of the RTPI’s members living and working abroad, the development of an international strategy is one of the foundations of the RTPI’s new Corporate Strategy, and will support us in delivering our ambitious global goals over the next decade.”
As part of its work, the newly-formed group will consult with all RTPI nations in the UK, as well as regional groups overseas, Standing Committees and internal stakeholders across the membership, education, communications and marketing teams.
It will also consult with key external partners in order to continue the RTPI’s commitment to inclusivity, equality and diversity.
