The RTPI Early Career Research (ECR) Grants programme funds innovative new academic planning research led by researchers who are within five years of completing a PhD/doctorate, or who are currently undertaking one.
It enables high-quality, innovative research pursuing the goals laid out in the Institute’s Research Strategy. It also helps to support the planning research community, in particular the RTPI-Accredited Planning Schools and academics who are navigating the post-PhD stage of their careers.
The grants encourage a high degree of independence and academic autonomy. They are about generating innovative and reflective insights on planning and the planning system from the academic planning research community – and making a vital contribution to the work of the wider planning community.
