Research on resilience and adaptation planning
Given increasing climate unpredictably, this research has looked at everything from how local climate adaptations by local communities could help mitigate the impact of flooding and drought, through to an ambitious project looking at how sustainable development can be used to decrease energy demand and contribute to achieving ambitious city level climate action plans. We also highlight an interesting research piece on coastal urban regeneration.
Research projects on this topic
Exploring new ways to manage surface water
This project shows how people in local communities can help mitigate the challenge local authorities and water companies face from managing intense rainfall.
Creating sustainable urban food, water and energy systems
The project will inform decision-makers of the advantages and disadvantages associated with low-carbon options when evaluating future development trajectories.
Coastal urban regeneration
Coastal communities, including port cities, seaside resorts and post-defence locations, have experienced significant social and economic restructuring.
