The RTPI has announced the launch of a new online mentoring platform that will provide general career development and support to members across sectors and around the world.
The mentoring programme will offer members an opportunity to acquire new skills and work towards professional goals with support. It will foster a reflective experience, allowing both mentors and mentees to exchange knowledge, explore diverse practices and apply these insights to their own professional situations.
Commencing 4 February, the first phase of the mentoring programme invites members to register as mentors. Once mentors have had a chance to sign up, the programme will then welcome members to register as mentees and select a mentor, beginning 2 April. Members interested in serving as a mentor may sign up here.
All RTPI members, both in the UK and internationally, are welcome to join as mentors or mentees.
RTPI President Helen Fadipe MBE FRTPI announced the programme’s launch in her inaugural speech this January, as a part of her commitment to three core themes for her tenure: collaboration, investment and inclusivity.
The success of the RTPI’s pilot mentoring programme in recent years marked the first step towards a commitment laid out in the RTPI Corporate Strategy to develop and launch a comprehensive mentoring and global exchange programme across borders and sectors. With this move to an online platform, the offering will now be available to members around the world, as well as those who may find it harder to source a mentor due to their current role or location.
“We’re thrilled to be able to offer this opportunity to all of our members,” said Martine Koch, Head of Membership at the RTPI. “Not only does mentoring benefit mentees, it also provides mentors with the chance to gain new leadership skills, expand their network, and deepen their job satisfaction.”
