The RTPI Trust Undergraduate Bursaries were established by the Trust to promote and support a diversity of talent in the planning profession, supporting and celebrating students from a variety of backgrounds at the beginning of their town planning career.

As someone of Asian heritage, I strongly advocate for greater diversity within the planning profession. Representation is essential in shaping inclusive policies that reflect the needs of all communities. A diverse planning workforce brings varied perspectives, ensuring that urban environments are accessible, culturally sensitive, and designed for everyone.

In addition to meeting the eligibility  criteria applicants had to submit a blog on a key issue affecting  town planning at present. Over the coming months we will be sharing some of these blogs on the website.

Recipients were chosen by a judging panel composed of John Acres – Chair of the RTPI Trust and former RTPI President, Janet Askew – Trustee of the RTPI Trust and former RTPI President, Ian Tant - Trustee of the RTPI Trust and former RTPI President, and Joanna Chambers – Trustee of the RTPI Trust.

About the Trust

The RTPI Trust is managed independently from the Institute and provides support and financial assistance to RTPI student members or members facing financial hardship. The Trust’s work over the last 30 years has been funded through kind donations or bequests from RTPI members. If you feel able to make a donation, of any size, to enable the Trust to continue its work, this would be greatly appreciated.
