RTPI Scotland has said that it is keen to engage with the new Minister for Local Government Empowerment and Planning Joe Fitzpatrick and is confident that they can build on the positive and constructive relationship between the organisations.
Mr Fitzpatrick’s role will sit under the remit of Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Finance Shona Robison.
Kirsty Macari, Convenor of RTPI Scotland said: “Warmest congratulations to Joe Fitzpatrick in being appointed as Minister for Local Government Empowerment and Planning.
“Planning can be a key player in supporting government ambitions around net zero, a post covid economic recovery and tackling inequalities. We look forward to working with the Minister to secure the delivery of the 4th National Planning Framework, continued implementation of the 2019 Planning Act and the need to resource the planning service now and for the future.
“We will be seeking to meet with the Minister to discuss this. Our thanks also go to outgoing Minister Tom Arthur MSP for the strides he made in his time in the role, especially the adoption of NPF4 and his support for the Future Planners initiative.”
