The RTPI recognises the value of mentoring and the benefit it can bring to members. It is a powerful way to inspire growth, build confidence and create lasting connections, helping members to reach their full potential. Both mentors and mentees gain personal and professional development.
The RTPI offers different mentoring opportunities including:
Career Development Mentoring
Following the successful pilot of the career mentoring programme, the RTPI has launched an online mentoring platform available to all members, anywhere in the world. The first mentoring programme to launch focuses on general career development for all members. This programme offers members the opportunity to acquire new skills and reach their full potential. It will foster a reflective experience, allowing both mentors and mentees to exchange knowledge, explore diverse practices and apply these insights to their own professional situations. Further mentoring programmes will be developed for members as the RTPI mentoring offer evolves.
Registration for mentors is now open. Registration for mentees opens on 2 April.
Chief Planners of Tomorrow
Our work shadowing scheme offers RTPI Young Planners the chance to step into the shoes of a chief planning officer. The initiative champions good leadership in planning and provides chief planners of the future with development opportunities.
APC Mentoring
