National Awards

The national RTPI Awards for Planning Excellence are the culmination of a year-long national and international programme to celebrate the very best people, plans and projects.  Thanks to our entrants, supporters, judges and sponsors.

Northern Ireland Awards for Planning Excellence Winners

Here are the Northern Ireland winners 2024 who were who were announced at our welcome celebration event at Riddell Hall, Belfast on 12 June. 

 

  • Excellence in Planning for Communities – Moylinney Court submitted by Radius Housing
  • Excellence in Planning for Health & Wellbeing - Murphy’s on Main Street Community Hub submitted by Keys and Monaghan

  • Excellence in Planning for Heritage & Culture – Winner Queen’s University of Belfast Business School and Student Hub submitted by Gravis Planning

  • Northern Ireland Planning Authority of the Year - Fermanagh and Omagh District Council

  • Northern Ireland Young Planner of the Year - Nick Salt

 

 

A stepping stone to our national celebration 

These winners became national finalists except for Young Planner of the Year who was judged by the national judges in September. The top five became Young Planner of the Year national finalists.  

All the shortlisted entries from the project categories* were judged for the national finalist list. The remaining five direct to national categories** were also judged to complete the national finalist list of a total of 15 categories.  

The national finalists were announced on 16 October and the winners were announced and celebrated on 26 November 2024 in London at the national ceremony. 

 *Project categories: 

  • Excellence in Planning for a Successful Economy  
  • Excellence in Planning for Health and Wellbeing  
  • Excellence in Planning for Heritage and Culture  
  • Excellence in Planning for the Natural Environment  
  • Excellence in Planning for Communities (small schemes under 50 homes) 
  • Excellence in Planning for Communities (large schemes of 50 homes or more)

  • Excellence in Digital Planning Practice 
  • International Award for Planning Excellence 
  • In-house Planning Team of the Year 
  • Planning Consultancy of the Year 
  • Inspirational Leader of the Year
