Caernarfon Island Site entered by Purcell
The Caernarfon Island Site project comprised of the repair, conservation and adaptation of the Harbour. The project is part of a wider, joined up strategy for the Waterfront, the Caernarfon culture and heritage led regeneration and tourist destination programme that has safeguarded and celebrated the heritage of this fascinating area within the World Heritage Site Trust’s Office and associated historic workshop buildings, collectively known as Cei Llechi, Slate Quay.
The Judges said: "These uses echo the past industrial history and function of the site and bring back a sense of activity and renewed vigour to this part of the waterfront. Extensive support has been put in place for the makers and there was a lot of work in identifying a good mix uses for the site."
