Sponsorship opportunities - RTPI Cymru

In the last few years, the RTPI Cymru team relaunched a programme of various events - our annual Wales Planning Conference in June, our Summer Party the evening before the conference, at which we announced the winners of RTPI Cymru Awards for Planning Excellence, our Welcome Event for newly Chartered Planners, and the North Wales Conference which saw record numbers of delegates in October 2024.

As well as offering a growing CPD programme, RTPI Cymru is working on activities to promote planning as a career with key partners across Wales.
Based on feedback from our members, we're building on our programme for 2025 - a very special year as we celebrate the 25th anniversary of RTPI Cymru. To do this, we would like to offer the opportunity to sponsor key events and activities.

In this document you will find details of proposed activities, and where appropriate a financial value of your sponsorship support.
However, it is not only financial contributions which are being sought: speakers, venues and other contributions are also needed, as is your general support by attending and promoting events and activities.

Cynllunio is RTPI Cymru’s quarterly journal. It is available online on the RTPI website. It is full colour and contains regular features as well as guest articles.

Opportunities to contribute include:
- Sponsorship (your colour logo be shown on the front bottom right corner): £250 + VAT per edition
- Advertisements for services offered by your company/ organisation in Wales or for jobs in Wales (note, we can only include job adverts if they are already promoted in The Planner Jobs): full page - £200 + VAT; Half page - £100 + VAT.
- High quality articles of interest to the planning profession in Wales are also welcomed (free)

To celebrate RTPI Cymru turning 25 this year, we're planning an invitation-only dinner on Thursday 27th March 2025 to thank our key volunteers since 2000, together with an invitation to a small number of key stakeholders.

We are offering two identical sponsorship packages comprising:

• Logo on all pre-event promotional material, including e-mail marketing, social media and in one edition of Cynllunio
• Exhibition space at the event to promote your company/ organisation and logo on signage and tables
• Three free tickets to the dinner
• Public thanks

Each sponsor package is £1,000 + VAT.
The RTPI Cymru Summer Party is organised the night before the Wales Planning Conference to try and maximise the ability of members from all parts of Wales to attend both events. The Summer Party is the opportunity to announce the winners of RTPI Cymru Awards for Planning Excellence, and in 2025 we'll also be using this event to welcome newly Chartered Members into the profession.

Held on Wednesday 25th June 2025, this event will also be the open-invitation occasion to celebrate RTPI Cymru’s 25th anniversary.

In the last 3 years this was held within Morgan Arcade (home of the RTPI Cymru office) but as the event is evolving we will be looking
at a different venue in Cardiff.

We're offering two identical sponsorship packages comprising:

• Logo on all pre-event promotional material, including e-mail marketing, in social media and in one edition of Cynllunio
• Pop-up banner at the event
• Public thanks during the speech

Each sponsor package is £700 + VAT.
The Wales Planning Conference will be held in Cardiff on Thursday 26th June 2025. Our biggest event of the year and set with a specific theme, it is an opportunity for the profession to listen to various presentations from a wide range of speakers, attend workshops and network throughout the day. The headline sponsors for this event are FTB and Savills, and WSP sponsors the post-conference networking drinks.

The Cabinet Secretary with responsibility for Planning is normally invited to give a keynote speech.

There is an opportunity to sponsor 10 free tickets for Cardiff University Planning students for £500 + VAT. Included in the price are two
free tickets for the sponsor as well as your logo in the delegates package and a public thank you from the Conference Chair.

Exhibition space is available for hire at a rate of £350 + VAT. Included in the price are two free places for exhibition representatives to
attend the Conference, plus up to a maximum of 4 additional Conference tickets at the discounted price of £50pp + VAT.
The RTPI Cymru Awards for Planning Excellence celebrate outstanding plans, projects and people that demonstrate the power of planning. These awards highlight exceptional examples of how planning and planners have a positive impact on our quality of life in creating exceptional places and protecting our environment. The RTPI Cymru Awards for Planning Excellence 2025 open for entries on 16th January 2025.

The RTPI Cymru ceremony celebrates the Wales’ winners (see relevant section), who will then go forward to the national RTPI Awards for Planning Excellence. In 2024, Wales had three shortlisted entries.

The headline sponsorship package for the RTPI Cymru Awards includes:
- Logo on promotional material including e-mail marketing, social media and one edition of Cynllunio
- Pop-up at the Summer Party
- Public thanks from the RTPI Cymru Chair at the Awards
The headline RTPI Cymru Award sponsor package is £700 + VAT.

Similar sponsorship packages are also available for the Young Planner of the Year Category and for the Small Consultancy of the Year Award, each at £500 + VAT.
RTPI Cymru has a regular presence at the Eistedfodd Genedlaethol. In 2024, RTPI Cymru held engagement sessions with the general public on planning, in collaboration with Planning Aid Wales, Savills and Cardiff Capital Region, supported by volunteer members.

We are always looking for Welsh speaking volunteers- contact us if you would like to get involved.
The North Wales Conference will take place at the Quay Hotel, Conwy, either on 16th October 2025. This is our biggest event in North Wales and has seen the number of delegates attending increasing year on year. Previous conference topics have included High Street regeneration, Welsh language and rural planning.

The sponsorship package includes:
• Logo on all pre-event promotional material including e-mail marketing and social media
• Logo on the RTPI Cymru website
• A speaker (to be agreed)
• An exhibition space at the venue
• Public thanks from the Conference Chair
• 2 x free conference tickets (in addition to a free ticket for your speaker).

This headline sponsor package is £500 + VAT.
The RTPI Future Planners initiative involves volunteer Ambassadors helping to raise awareness of town planning, and championing planning as a great career.

Ambassadors can be asked to promote the profession at university careers fairs and in school, or work with teachers to help embed planning in the curriculum. You could help with writing a case study which we can turn into a lesson or skills workshop. You could ask your company to offer an experience insight day for a student or class.

Stepping up to 'give back' to the profession could be a fantastic way to practise your communication skills, and a fun way to make links to community engagement and public consultations you've undertaking in your workplace. If that is the case, and it meets your personal development plan objectives, it could also be counted as CPD.

This is also a way to potentially grow the pipeline of future planners and secure a sustainable future for the profession.
