Knepp Wilding Kitchen & Shop entered by Rural Planning Group & Horsham District Council
The Wilding Kitchen and Shop is a rural redevelopment project that transformed a redundant historic farmsted in West Sussex into the public facing outlet and visitor centre for the Knepp Estate’s pioneering rewilding project. The project followed a ‘re-purposing’ concept which included the restoration, remodelling and refurbishment of existing structures on site. This was very much aligned with local identity of the Knepp Estate’s own repurposing journey from giving up conventional farming and embarking on rewilding. The development operates on renewable technology, is water neutral, and has designed wildlife into the fabric of the buildings and public spaces.
