  • Pioneering Places East Kent entered by Five10Twelve / Creative Folkestone

Pioneering Places aimed to make East Kent an even better place to live, work and visit by empowering communities to engage with planning, planners, architects and placemaking through culture and heritage.Pioneering Places delivered outcomes focused on four different heritage sites in Canterbury, Dover, Folkestone and Ramsgate. Each of the sites had been abandoned, fallen into disuse or was otherwise not meeting its full potential for development, cultural or community use. Pioneering Places empowered communities to identify new uses for these sites and bring them to the attention of local authorities to bring them back into community use.

  • Featherbed Fruits, Middle Farm, Mixbury entered by Fisher German

A UK-leading polytunnel project that will deliver local food produce all year round using innovative technologies, ultimately reducing food imports to the UK from abroad. Featherbed Fruits is a farm diversification project with significant climate, economic and educational benefits. Based near the village of Mixbury, Oxfordshire, the project will supply strawberries to local food outlets and will help meet the increased demand for locally sourced produce. The project will also offer educational school visits and have climate benefits for example through reducing pesticide use, recycling rainfall and the use of a hydroponic (soil free) system.

  • The Whitehill & Bordon Green Loop and Wayfinding Project entered by East Hants District Council

This is a large Green Infrastructure project that delivers against many objectives and delivered by partners, which has been critical to its success. This cycling and walking infrastructure has been delivered and designed to have a positive impact predominantly on health and wellbeing. The Green Loop – a 7km loop of paths that encircles Whitehill & Bordon is used by walkers, runners, and cyclists. The waymarkers, the totems, benches and blocks provide vital information, places of mindfulness and rest. Together, they are a key to encouraging residents and visitors to choose active travel in and around the town.
