The RTPI Yorkshire Awards for Planning Excellence celebrate outstanding planners, plans and projects that demonstrate the power of planning in our region.

The awards highlight exceptional examples of how planning and planners have a positive impact on our quality of life in creating exceptional places and protecting our environment. In recognising and rewarding excellence we aim to inspire others to achieve the same high standards.

Leeds Skelton Lake Services is a uniquely built motorway service station in East Leeds. It provides the travelling public and commercial drivers a safe place to rest, eat and refuel, as well as meeting rooms and accommodation.

Leeds Skelton Lake Services and the surrounding public footpath network and development of 1,100 new homes places the facility as a focus of the community which provides facilities, services and a recreation space.

The innovative building has a biodiverse green roof, visitor centre and viewing platform which connects the building with its surroundings.

The world-class design has created an iconic, recognisable motif at the gateway to eastern Leeds.

Murdoch’s Connection is a landmark bridge commissioned by Highways England that reconnects Hull’s city centre with the Historic Waterfront.

Murdoch’s Connection will link the majority of the City to the historic Spurn Lightship museum and the Fruit Market cultural district.

It is a landmark attraction with a recognisable, high-quality and inclusive design which reflects the legacy of Hull’s City of Culture 2017. As part of the transport provision through the A63 project, it supports the aims to reduce congestion, as well as Hull’s strategic importance as a port for the region and helps unlock sites for economic development.

Treadmills is a unique multi-million pound complex on a former prison site in the heart of Northallerton.
