Patrick Johnston, Persimmon PLC

Patrick is five and a half years into his planning career. Starting in August 2018, in a Student Planner role at Newcastle City Council, he did a year’s placement split between development management and planning policy. This provided a rounded introduction to planning, before he joined Persimmon PLC in August 2019 as Group Planning Assistant. Over the four and a half years since, Patrick has developed his understanding of planning policy especially in relation to housing need. Alongside this, he has been an enthusiastic member of the North East Young Planners Committee, where he currently sits as Chair.
