Chair's Award, Winner - Haringey Council
Haringey's New Local Plan First Steps Engagement demonstrated an imaginative, innovative, inclusive industry-leading approach to planning consultation. Mid-way through the pandemic the Council delivered a digitally-focused consultation to begin a conversation about its New Local Plan.
Despite the enormous challenges at play for the borough's communities, the Council succeeded in obtaining over 1,500 responses with high levels of representation from people in the east of the borough and younger people, two groups who had traditionally been significantly under-represented. The Plan itself included cutting-edge evidence on climate change, and shaped further work since, specifically on active travel and parks.
