Young Planner of the Year Winner

Matthew Harmsworth

Matthew’s experience across a range of local authority, developer, and consultancy roles, as well as his broad education and qualifications, provides him with a unique understanding of planning and the roles within each area of the profession. He has a wide array of project experience in major and minor schemes, developing unique design and planning initiatives in the process.

His leadership of the Neurodiversity in Planning Network and this topic area has collaboratively transcended organisational boundaries to improve awareness, practices and design. 

His eagerness to mentor and be mentored demonstrates he has no limits to self-development, making him an exemplary leader and role model.

James Angus

James is a Planning Manager for Cala Homes, specialising in residential-led schemes. James strives to develop himself, achieving a Distinction in MSc Spatial Planning from The Bartlett School of Planning, UCL and a Level 3  in Principles of Management and Leadership from the CMI, with a distinction awarded. 

He’s been integral to several key projects for Cala, including securing planning permission for the company’s first net-zero carbon-ready home that features a range of climate-conscious measures.

James has developed an intricate understanding of the planning system driven by his desire to deliver excellent planning results and sustainable developments.

James has been involved in significant projects and has provided valuable support to junior staff members.
