Core CPD Framework:
- Health and Wellbeing
- 3 CPD Hours
Planning is in many ways a profession that has always been focussed on addressing public health concerns. The majority of our health outcomes are explained by factors other than healthcare. These include the quality of the environment in which we live. This event provides an opportunity to engage with current thinking regarding how planning can shape places, enhance the quality of our built and natural environment and in doing so improve our physical and mental health.
Learning outcomes:
- Gain insights into the relationship between positive public health outcomes and planning processes
- Enhance understanding of how plan-making and design can lead to environments that support positive public health outcomes and reduce health inequalities
- Update professional knowledge on best practice regarding Health Impact Assessments at strategic and project levels
- Connect with practitioners in the planning and health fields
Speakers include:
- Chair: Laura Cornborough, Turley and Riaan VanEeden, Guildford Borough Council
- Michael Chang, NHS Property Services Ltd : Making the Connections-Seeing the Big Picture for Planning
- Gemmy Hyde, TCPA : Health and well-being in Local Plans
- Ian Brown, Milton Keynes City Council : How Milton Keynes used HIA process and health data to inform the draft policies in the emerging MK City Plan
