Event description

Join Devon, Cornwall and Somerset Young Planners for an engaging talk with DevComms exploring the intersection of politics and planning. The session will discuss how national and local political positions integrate into the planning process.  The presentation will also reflect on the Planning Committee reform, English Devolution and Mayoral Authorities, and ahead to the local elections in May across the South West. Don’t miss this opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the role politics plays in shaping our planning landscape.

Learning outcomes

1. Gain an understanding about the current politics that surround planning, and how political issues influence decision making.  
2. Learn and understand how the political landscape could change across the South West in the coming years.
3. Gain tips on how both groups can work together proactivity.

• Parking is available at the Guildhall Centre Car Park which is approximately a 2 minute walk.]
• The nearest train station is Exeter Central which is about a 5 minute walk
• The event will take place on the ground floor in ‘the Workshop’ event space which is fully accessible.  Both ramps and a lift are available at the venue.
• A quieter space is available through the duty manager if required.
