Event Description

Need to fill a gap in your experience? Looking to build on the skills you already have? Or maybe you want to see top professionals in action in a relaxed, professional setting? RTPI London is delighted to bring back its popular Mock Public Inquiry, in collaboration with Six Pump Court.
Taking place in the Council Chamber at the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, this event offers a unique opportunity to observe (or take part in) a realistic Planning Public Inquiry.
You will gain key insights and learn the tricks of the trade from well-experienced Planning Inspectors from PINs and barristers from Six Pump Court, making this an engaging and interactive session designed to enhance your skills and confidence in navigating planning inquiries.

Learning outcomes

• Gain a detailed understanding of the purpose, structure, and process of public inquiries.
• Learn about the role and responsibilities of the Planning Inspectorate in managing inquiries and making decisions.
• Develop key skills for serving as an expert witness, including effective communication and providing strong evidence under scrutiny.
• Understand legal requirements and advocacy techniques necessary for successful participation in inquiries.
• Participate in a mock public inquiry to gain hands-on experience in presenting evidence, cross-examination, and inquiry protocols.
• Build connections with peers, legal experts, and planning professionals while sharing experiences and insights.
