Join RTPI London and Lester Hillman for a free guided walk uncovering the rich planning history at the core of the City.

This RTPI London event commemorates 25 years of the Institute's presence in the City, following the purchase of its freehold HQ building on 30th March 2000. The walk will start at the RTPI London office on 41 Botolph Lane, a location with historic ties to Sir Christopher Wren, the only town planner ever to appear on a £50 note.

Key highlights include:

  • A Roman Bath House
  • A seventh-century pioneer of congestion charging
  • A twelfth-century HS2 equivalent
  • The Great Fire of London and its role in site assembly and seventeenth-century master planning
  • Modern insights from Feng Shui and the infamous "Walkie Scorchie"

The tour will conclude at a nearby pub for a chance to socialise and reflect on the day's discoveries. Don’t miss this engaging journey through centuries of urban history!

Discover surprising insights into where the Institute chose not to go, including the City's medieval green belt.

This walk promises an engaging journey through the fascinating layers of urban history, from ancient times to the present.
