Event Description

Conserving and enhancing the historic environment is an integral element of sustainable development, helping to positively shape the places we create. The event aims to support planning professionals working with heritage in both plan making and decision making, and will cover various aspects of heritage in the planning process, including updates on the recent ‘Heritage Works for Housing’ guidance published by Historic England. Presentations will be given by experts from a variety of backgrounds, working in different areas of the heritage and planning sector; followed by a panel discussion.

Accessibility

  • The nearest train station is Rochdale Railway Station, which has step free access and accessible ticket gates Rochdale Station | National Rail. A taxi rank is located to the front of the Station, along with the Metrolink stop with trams continuing on to Rochdale Town Centre tram stop. Return tram travel from Rochdale Railway Station to Rochdale Town Centre Stop is free with any valid National Rail ticket where the journey commences from a Greater Manchester fare zone railway station, although the ticket should be retained at the gate line by speaking to station staff.
  • The Rochdale Exchange Shopping Centre offers the closest fully accessible car park - Parking and Centre Information – Rochdale Exchange.  The fastest way to reach the museum is along the pedestrian route via the vehicle entrance to the car park, with lift access to all levels of the car park and main shopping mall where the payment machines are located being available.
