Event Description
Is planning making a positive contribution to protecting and enhancing the natural environment? Or is it helping to speed up its destruction? A panel of practitioners and academics will consider the current state of play around the multiple roles of planning, in the context of multiple, overlapping environmental crises from the climate emergency to biodiversity breakdown. The session will include time for questions from the audience and a broader debate. This will be followed by drinks and canapes at the Museum of English Rural Life and the 2024 RTPI Awards for Research Excellence. This event is part of the 2024 UK-Ireland Planning Research Conference, which is being hosted by the University of Reading this year.
