Event Description
What does the future hold for planning as a profession? In an age of digitalisation and machine learning, does it continue to have a distinctive contribution to make? Representatives of Planning Officers’ Society, Planning Advisory Service, and the authors of two new books which will be launched at the event; ‘Slow Planning’ and ‘The Future for Planners’, will offer their perspectives on what the future of the planning profession holds. The session will include time for questions from the audience and a broader debate. This will be followed by an opportunity to continue the conversation over drinks and canapes. There will also be an opportunity to purchase copies of both books at a discounted price. This event is part of the 2024 UK-Ireland Planning Research Conference, which is being hosted by the University of Reading this year.

Accessibility
Several bus services operate from the train station to the university. Look for buses numbered 20, 21, or 21a, which will take you directly to the campus. Taxis are available outside the train station, the journey usually takes around 10 minutes. Please view travel information here.
