join us for the 75th anniversary of World Town Planning Day, an annual global event dedicated to highlighting the vital role of planners in shaping the future of our communities. This event will explore homes, services and sustainability challenges, approaches and solutions in rural Scotland and Norway focusing on second homes, their impact on local rural housing markets and innovative responses to address the challenge.
The webinar is part of the RTPI World Town Planning online programme.
Learning outcomes
Through case studies gain insights into how planners are addressing housing challenges in Scotland and Norway.
The Scottish case study will look at community-led crofting development as a potential solution to the rural housing crisis. While the Norwegian presentation will discuss "Boplikt", the Norwegian legislation that allows municipalities to control second home ownership through a "Duty of Occupation".
