Research description

COVID-19 has had a significant impact on the lives and livelihoods of informal workers. Planning in times of crisis is an investigation into the impact of COVID-19 on informal workers in Warwick Junction, in Durban, South Africa. In addition to capturing the impact, the study examines how different tiers of government responded to the challenges faced by informal workers during this period, how the responses were mediated by a local non-governmental organisation with a history in the area, and what lessons planners can learn about planning in times of crisis from this case.
