Lorraine Mullings: Get involved with Governance in 2025

Lorraine Mullings is the Governance Manager at the RTPI

Things in Governance remain busy as we head toward the end of the year. We are already looking toward 2025 and are making plans for the year ahead.

Over the summer, we welcomed Anna Byrne to the team as the new Governance Officer. Anna has a wealth of governance and charity experience and has settled seamlessly into the role. Anna has helped with the 2025 plans, including sending out invitations for the governance meetings and getting to know some of the committees that she will be working with. Anna will also be supporting the RTPI Trust.

Now that the meeting dates have been agreed, we are searching for venues for the 2025 General Assembly meetings. The first meeting of the year is also when the incoming President has her inauguration ceremony and so we have been looking at larger and more prestigious venues to host the event. We visited some picturesque spaces, all with their own unique histories, including the headquarters of different livery companies

We are coming to the end of our elections process and will begin to prepare for the new members who have been voted in as members of the General Assembly and Vice President. The incoming Vice President is Jan Bessell, who will be joining the Board of Trustees in the new year. There is still time to vote for positions in the nations and regions. Elections close on 28 October.

The Board also has two new members. Alan Brown has been appointed to the Board as a co-opted member to lend his expertise on business transformation and Catherine McKinney was successfully elected to the Boars as the new Nations Trustee.

We have just had the last General Assembly of the year, which also included the Annual General Meeting and the presentation of the certificate to commemorate Vice President Helen Fadipe’s fellowship.

We are still accepting expressions of interest from members to join one of our standing committees. The application form and further information can be found here. The closing date for applications is 8 November, so there is still time to apply.
