Apprentices on the L4 Town Planning Assistant apprenticeship programme are awarded free RTPI student membership. Upon successful completion, apprentices are encouraged to join the Institute as Affiliate members. If apprentices aim to progress to Chartered membership without additional study, they could do so via the following professional routes, provided they meet the entry criteria specific to each route and additional work experience:
- Associate membership
- Experienced Practitioner route
Successful completion of the L4 Town Planning Assistant apprenticeship can lead to progression to the Chartered Town Planner Degree Apprenticeship, or onto a traditional degree course. As with any prior qualification or learning, the academic course point of entry will be determined by the individual university, college or apprenticeship provider.
