Regions and Nations

Positions on our Regional Management Boards, Regional Activities Committees and National Executive Committees for Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales open in September.

Presidential Team, Board of Trustees and GA

Positions for these (as outlined below) are now closed.

Presidential Team

• Vice President

The Board of Trustees

• Nations Trustee (one position)

The Nations Trustee is a Chartered Member who lives or works mainly in Ireland, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.

The General Assembly

• Chartered Members (14 positions)
• Associate Members (2 positions)
• Legal Member or Legal Associate (1 position)
• Student or Licentiate Member (3 positions)

Timeline Board of Trustees / Presidential Team / General Assembly

Nominations open: Monday 3rd June 2024

Nominations close : Monday 29th July (8 weeks)

Supporters’ applications closes: Tuesday 30th July

Election Voting opens: Monday 19^th  August

Election Voting closes: Monday 16^th  September

Results announced: Week commencing 23^rd September

Nations and Regions timeline

Nominations open: Monday 2^nd September

Nominations close: Friday 27^th September

Elections open: Monday 7^th October

Elections Close: Monday 28^th October

Committees timeline

Committee applications open: Monday 7^th October

Committee applications close: Friday 8^th November 

Committee Allocations Meeting: 22^nd November

All positions will start from January 2025.

Board of Trustees, General Assembly and Vice President:

• The Trustees positions are for a three-year term.
• The General Assembly positions are for a two-year term.
• The Vice President is a one-year term before progressing to President the following year then Immediate Past President.

Nations and Regions positions:

• These vary according to the role in the Nation or Region. Most terms are two year, but some are one year. Chairs positions are usually for one year. Terms will be indicated on the nomination form.

Many volunteers find that they can fit in volunteering for the RTPI around their employment. For General Assembly, committees in the Nations and Regions, Corporate committees and Board of Trustees roles you will be expected to read papers, attend the meetings and participate in the discussions. The Role Descriptions provide further information about the number of meetings and committee membership for each position.

Many employers are very supportive and encourage staff to take up governance roles because they bring so many opportunities for personal and professional development. Look out for a nominations email from [email protected] with details of how to nominate and how many supporters you will need. If you wish to apply, remember to ask your supporters to look out for an email from mi-voice and complete the form.

For positions in RTPI Nations and Regions:

Two supporters are required.

For positions on the Presidential Team, General Assembly and Board of Trustees:

The number of supporters and their type of membership depends on the position.

Retired members retain their status as Chartered members or Non-Chartered members held immediately before transferring to Retired Member status and are eligible to apply for the positions accordingly. Further details are available in the Role Descriptions.

RTPI appreciates the time and talent spent on its activities by volunteers, members of the Institute, staff, trustees, committee members, General Assembly members. In supporting the activities, the Institute is pleased to reimburse reasonable expenses in line with the Expenses Policy.
