Flooding Issues and Flood Protection Schemes

  • Wednesday 24 May 2017
  • 13.30 - 17.00
  • Craven Council offices, Skipton

This seminar and study tour will look at the works for the flood protection scheme for Skipton, now almost complete. The scheme won the RTPI Yorkshire Award for Planning Excellence in 2016. It is hoped that a comparison with the earlier flood protection scheme for Pickering can be made. Issues of sustainable drainage and flood risk assessment will be discussed.

In partnership with the Environment Agency and kindly sponsored by Curtins.

Bridlington's Regeneration - Vision and Delivery

  • Tuesday 4th July 2017
  • 12.30 - 15.30
  • The Spa, Bridlington

Bridlington's heyday as a seaside resort has passed and, like many British coastal towns, it faces serious socio-economic challenges with high levels of multiple deprivation. The East Riding of Yorkshire Council adopted an Area Action Plan for the Town Centre in January 2013 and has been working closely with partners including both the Humber and York, North Yorkshire and East Riding Enterprise Partnerships to deliver its vision of being 'a great place to live by the seaside. Visitors welcome'. This seminar and study tour will cover what has already been achieved in realising that vision, and the extensive work underway and still planned.

In partnership with the East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

Barnsley Town Centre - recent development and future plans

  • Wednesday 27th September 2017
  • 14.00 - 16.30
  • Westgate Plaza, Barnsley

This Seminar and Study Tour will look at Barnsley Council's carefully structured approach to future development of the town centre. The market has recently been relocated and a new surface car park has been provided. The concrete brutalist buildings of the early 1970's are being demolished for redevelopment.

In partnership with Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council.

We will be holding a seminar on Viability in October in Leeds. Details coming soon.
