Young Planners in the South West

Welcome to South West Young Planners, the RTPI's network for all young planners based in the South West of England.

In its current form, South West Young Planners has been running since May 2011. Since then, the Group has grown massively and has hosted a number of successful events, including the national Young Planners' Conference in 2014. The main role of the group is to organise a programme of events throughout the year to help young planners in their personal and professional development, as well as considering and representing the interests of young planners in the RTPI. We aim to hold at a wide variety of events, ranging from CPD sessions and themed seminars, study tours, networking sessions and socials. We also try to arrange regular APC sessions to help those starting and preparing to submit.

South West Young Planners publish a quarterly newsletter. We welcome contributions to our newsletter, so if you are interested in submitting an article for the newsletter please contact a member of the Steering Group or email us.

Young Planners - Extending activity across the region!

The South West Young Planners Steering Group are interested to hear from members interested in organising and supporting events in Somerset, Dorset, Devon and Cornwall. This could be networking events, APC support seminars, Socials, Site  Vists, CPD events and more. Young Planner events are opportunities for you or newly qualified / trainee members of your team to network and further their career.

Do I count as a 'young planner'?

A young planner is any student, licentiate or corporate member of the RTPI with up to 10 years' experience post-qualification. We welcome all young planners to attend our events, and often work with more experienced planners to bring forward events.
