Past members can re-join the RTPI at their previous membership class at any time. Retired Members who are transitioning back to planning employment can also revert to their previous class of membership. All members looking to reinstate must review the Reinstatement Guidance complete a reinstatement application form.
In addition, members of the following classes, who have been lapsed for more than 12 months, must also meet continuing professional development (CPD) and Professional Development Plan (PDP) requirements:
- Chartered Members (Fellow, Chartered and Legal);
- Legal Associate;
1) Reinstating to any membership class
2) Chartered, Legal Associate and Associate who lapsed more than 12 months ago
Reinstatement or reversion to Chartered, Legal Associate and Associate class: £50
Reinstatement to Retired and Affiliate class: £20
Reinstatement to Licentiate and Student class: No charge
Any person whose membership has lapsed due to non-payment of fees may remain liable for their outstanding subscription arrears. This fee would need to be paid when submitting an application to reinstate. Please contact the Membership Team on +44(0)20 7979 9462.
NOTE: In some instances, there may also be a charge for outstanding fees relating to your previous membership (known as 'arrears'). This is calculated pro rata for the year in which your membership lapsed; you will not be charged for any time period that you were not a member.
