Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA)

Invitation to tender

Strategic Environmental Assessment practice advice note

The RTPI has just published an invitation to tender for a new practice advice note on Strategic Environmental Assessment / Strategic Assessment (SEA/SA).

The purpose of the tender is to publish user-friendly advice for RTPI members on the key issues relating to the preparation of SEA and SA with examples of good practice. The advice will form part of our continuing  practice advice note series which represent the RTPI's view of good practice on a particular planning topic or skill to support our members' commitment to CPD.

More information on our practice advice series can be found on our practice page.

There has been little recent guidance and advice on the preparation and interpretation of SEA/SA. The process was also the subject of significant criticism in the England Local Plans Experts Group's 2016 report on Local Plans. Up-to-date advice could address some of those criticisms.

The invitation to tender can be found here.

The commissioning client for this project is the RTPI on behalf of RTPI South East region.
