Expert Witness

WritingActing as an expert witness at a hearing, tribunal or court is an important, but often nerve wracking part of being a professional planner. RTPI members need to take particular account of our Code of Professional Conduct when acting as an expert witness, in particular the core principles of 'Competence, honesty and integrity' and 'Indepentent professional judgement'.

Share your experiences

The RTPI is working with PEBA (Planning and Environmental Bar Association) to publish new practice advice for our members on how to be an expert witness. It will cover the procedures, how to prepare and how to present yourself on the day. In order to do this we would like to hear from you about your experiences  – how you prepared and your top tips. Please complete our short, 5 minute survey by Monday 18 December.
