The RTPI is committed to identifying and disseminating the best in planning practice in order to meet our corporate objectives of 'shaping and informing planning policy and practice' and 'developing knowledge, education and raising standards'.

Learning and Practice Needs Project

The RTPI has carried out a review of our members learning and practice needs. We collated and examined information from a wide range of sources; including our member survey, RTPI event feedback forms, a survey of Learning Partners and priorities identified from our policy papers.

Our Learning and Practice Needs Working Group then identified learning and practice priorities for our members and the profession, which the RTPI will aim to deliver a full range of CPD and learning opportunties on.

The priorities for 2015-17 are:

Professional Standards

The RTPI Code of Professional Conduct requires our members to have the highest standards of professional practice. We have guidance on how our members should fulfil their committment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Practice Advice

The RTPI publishes practice advice to support our members. They include:

RTPI Awards for Planning Excellence

Celebrates the very best planning projects, strategies, processes and teams that help make great places. Details of the 2016 Award winners are available and provide inspiration as best practice case studies.

The RTPI runs a full programme of CPD events through our low cost regional event programmes, RTPI Conferences based in London and Network events. See our Events Calendar for the full diary of events.

Our Policy Papers and Horizons series are pieces of research and policy analysis focused on specific questions and aimed at informing policy making audiences, covering high-profile issues, including strengthening stratgic planning and research focusing on the eonomic value of planning.
