Devon and Cornwall Young Planners are delighted to announce their summer study tour.
The event aims to give planners an understanding of the Habitat Regulations. In the South West and other part of the UK, Planners are obliged to consider the provision of mitigation that is necessary to compensate for new development, ensuring that there is no harm on our wildlife, Special Areas of Conservation and World Heritage Sites.
The aim of this CPD event is to give planners a tour through two developments, one which is still in its raw state to a developed and fully functional SANGS (suitable alternative natural green space). The event would be most beneficial to those planners that are involved in larger development schemes where mitigation is required as a result of the development .
The event will include a minibus ride to a SANGS area that is proposed to be developed in due course to a SANGS in Dawlish which has been fully delivered. The visit will be accompanied by two members of Teignbridge District Council staff and will seek to explain what the habitat Regulations are, its importance in planning, the planning of a SANGS, its delivery and maintenance, together with the learning outcomes and the way forward.
