58-67 Grand Parade, Grand Parade Campus Boardroom, University of Brighton BN2 0JY, UK
This Year, RTPI President, Stephen Wilkinson, will present at this ever popular annual lecture hosted by Brighton University. Stephen will present on the importance of social justice within the planing system.
"The legacy of a Civilisation is defined, amongst other things, by its planning systems. Social justice is at the heart of the modern Planning system, providing the raison d’etre without which planning becomes just a technocratic exercise.
Interpretation of social justice adds the political dimension to planning which shapes delivery. What Planning is, along with the balance of public rights over private rights, has been the subject of debate leading up to and since the inception of a national planning system in 1947, and the debate rages on.
How we address this issue will define our legacy as planners in the 21st Century."
Stephen Wilkinson, RTPI President
The lecture will draw on the RTPI report on Poverty, Place and Inequality.
Drinks and nibbles will be provided following the lecture.
