Assessing ecology constraints - the importance for developers and planners

The talk will look at development sites and ecology considerations, from initial assessment (Preliminary Ecological Assessment stage including Phase 1 Habitat), through to detailed surveys for protected species such as great crested newts, including seasonality of surveys and how to plan ahead, and finally implementation works such as species translocations and the role of ecological clerk of works.  The talk will include practical details on how consultants go about doing ecology work and who they liaise and consult with as part of that process.
