The natural environment enjoys legal protection, but is nonetheless subject to developmental pressure, provokingintense reaction as valuedlandscapes may be permanently altered. Management of the natural environment is vital for resilience and mitigation planning for natural events, such as flooding. The planner’s role in balancing conservation and management of our natural resources, across boundaries and between agencies, will be explored.
