Successful job interviews

In a competitive job market those who are best prepared for the interview will be the ones who receive offers of employment. This article by Xact Group offers advice on successful job interviews.

Join the RTPI's Linked In Group and follow the wide range of discussions offering advice and guidance on all kinds of planning and workplace topics.

Where to find employers

Jobs are advertised in a variety of media, and can be found easily via a Google search.  The RTPI jobs board is hosted by The Planners Jobs website.  You might also want to contact employers direct by using the RTPI's Online Directory of Planning Consultants, which contains the contact details for many UK and Ireland based consultancies. The contact details for UK local authorities is also a good place to narrow your search to a particular geographical location.

Internships and voluntary work experience

How do you get work experience? Internships are a controversial option for some. We provide a series of articles that focus on good practice in voluntary work experience, for both employers and unemployed graduates & planners.

If you are facing redundancy and are currently working through your notice period, then your employer is obliged to allow you what they consider reasonable time off during the period to secure another job.
