2016 was a busy year as we worked to raise the profile of the Institute and the profession across the UK, Ireland and beyond. In this Annual Review, which includes a foreword by our Patron, HRH the Prince of Wales, we want to share with you some of the year's highlights, activities and achievements.
With over 24,000 members in more than 80 countries around the world, we work hard to meet their diverse needs. We publish advice, guidance, reports, and research; we respond to Government policies and reports; we devise policy; we run hundreds of events, including seminars and the Planning Convention, as well as CPD training and workshops; we promote planning as a career to students and schools; we attend national and international meetings and conferences; we hold awards ceremonies and competitions to recognise the best in planning; we promote RTPI work and the planning profession to the media; we publish our own excellent journal, Planning Theory & Practice, and The Planner magazine. A small part of these activities will be highlighted in this report.
We hope you enjoy reading it.
